Thomas Justino moved to New York City to study photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He went on to further his education at School of the Visual Arts where he majored in filmmaking. He left school when he received an opportunity to work for renowned photographer Ken Regan. The job was one that put Thomas in a position to be among not only some of the world’s finest and most respected photographers, but filmmakers as well.

Thomas spent his personal time photographing and writing incessantly. He wrote a short film, With Anchovies…Without Mamma, which he directed and was produced with Ken Regan. The film garnered accolades on its festival run. The time on the festival circuit opened doors to form bonds with many of New York’s most talented actors of both stage and screen. Through these relationships, a passion for short fiction, and a love of 1950’s photojournalism, the idea for his supernatural anthology series Toll Switch was born.

Focusing on building his own body of work, Thomas is now a freelance producer living in Brooklyn. He doesn’t look to define himself as photographer or filmmaker, but as a storyteller. He is driven by his passion for narrative. Whether stories present themselves in the form of an offering of light and shape before him, or in a more abstract complex notion suited for page, Thomas is compelled to explore and expand on such opportunities and shape them within the medium that calls for their submission.
